Ticknock Biking Blitz

The last round of the Biking Blitz series took place on Paddy's day this year. Dad and I arrived up to Ticknock at 9:30 so we could get a parking spot near the start line. We went and signed on and went back to the car. At this stage it was cold but It started to snow and it Just made things colder. It snowed for the next hour and a half. We sat in the car waiting for it to stop and trying to stay warm. At around 12:30 I went for a bit of a warm up cycling up and down the tarmac and a small section of one of the trails. At 1 o'clock I lined up at the start line with all the other lads in Juniors. The race this time was a mass start with every single person starting at the same time.
I got a good start and a way we went sprinting up the tarmac. There was a lot of weaving trying not to crash into the people infront you. I sat on the tale of one of the Super Pro's most of the way up just staying ahead Anthony but not realising that Max was pulling away infront of us without knowing. Anthony Passed me just before the start of the Top Metro. I stuck on his tail the whole way along the Metro. We came down the Lower Metro still right behind each other and back to start the 2nd lap.

Starting the second lap I reliased I had lost my water bottle and hadn't got a spare. So I pushed on and got a bit ahead of Anthony and caught Meline Spath. I managed to get a sip of water of Melanie before she took off up the tarmac ahead of me. Anthony was still right behind me coming up to the Top Metro for the 2nd time. He passed me Just before we got into the trail and started to pull away from me as we continued along Metro. I caught him towards the end of the Metro. I kept with Anthony till around half way back to the Lower Metro. As i Started the Metro Anthony had a bit of a head start. I pushed on pedaling at every chance I got to try catch him. I caught Anthony near the end of the Metro. Coming round to the finish line their was nowhere to overtake so it ended in a sprint to the finish but Anthony beat me to the line. I finished 3rd. Overall in the series I finished 2nd, 150 points behind Anthony. Thanks to Niall Davis and the Biking.ie crew for running the series which went without flaw. Really looking forward to the NPS now which is only 3/4 weeks away now.
